We Should Legalize Drugs (first in a series on things The Wire taught me)
Todd and I recently stayed up until 2:00 am one Sunday morning having our hearts ripped out by David Simon finishing The Wire. It was probably the best ending to a show ever (not because it was an especially happy ending, ‘cause it wasn’t, but because of the continuity and the way it made sense for this particular show), and it almost makes me want to say something bad about Lost, and how The Wire is proof that it’s possible to start stories in season 1 and bring them to logical and satisfying conclusions in the end. The Best Party won 6 out of 15 council … Read More »

“Lost” is over and my other shows are on their summer hiatus. You may say that this would be a good time for me to look into new hobbies, maybe exercise more, but I would tell you that that’s silly.

The show follows a group called the Sea Shepherds as they try to thwart Japanese whalers hunting whales off the coast of Antarctica. I want to sympathize with the Shepherds as the whalers’ claims of scientific research are dubious, but they’re the biggest bunch of inept dorks ever, led by a captain who can’t seem to breathe with his mouth closed and always looks like he … Read More »
